My background
Born in Latvia with a natural curiosity for patterns and shapes, raised in Amsterdam, as an interdisciplinary designer, I have carried this unique background into my design approach. Focussing on the intersection where design meets research, and where function meets form. Resulting in not only beautiful things being designed and built, but an audience who feels truly understood.

Seeing the beautiful in the mandane
From day my attention to detail takes shape through my joy for photography. Growing up in Latvia, I was constantly surrounded by the intricate craftsmanship and classical architecture. While the remnants of Soviet-era brutalism and functionalism, still dominate the landscape, this shaped my appreciation for functional aesthetics.
This unique blend of influences inspires me to capture the extraordinary in everyday moments, channeling this perspective into my design work. By recognizing patterns and drawing inspiration from my surroundings, creating designs that resonate with both beauty and function.
Photography allows me to explore these elements further, documenting the interplay of light, shadow, and structure in the world around me. Seeking to highlight the hidden details and unexpected beauty in the mundane, bringing a fresh perspective.

Latvian herritage and how it influenced my design
Based on Latvian folklore, the Well symbol (Akas Zīme) characterizes a global basis and the foundation of the world. Formed by four diagonal crosses, a space is created in the middle, a space for possibility and creation. A space where zero can be brought to one. The Well symbol connects the top with the bottom, the sky, and the underground water, marking a new solar year, representing the potential that reaches end to end; the Well signifies newness and potential.
Aesthetically pleasing to look at, clear, concise, and perfect at any angle - this symbol brings form to function, and this is why it also symbolizes HENRIKSPORCIKS.STDUIO, utilizing every corner to bring creative solutions center stage, the Well is a perfect reminder of this philosophy.
